INSPIRATION COMES IN MANY FORMS

Inspiration comes in many forms. I recently came upon these words “love is the answer, you are my sunshine, i love you.” written in the back of my daughter's coloring book and I felt inspired by her. First, because of the beautiful wisdom carried inside of this small child, and second, because it moved me to want to show up as a better example of Love to all I encounter in my life, including myself.

I was also inspired to look up the meaning of the word ‘inspire’. According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, the origins of the word ‘inspire' came from the Latin inspirare which means (“to breathe or blow into”), which itself is from the word spirare, meaning “to breathe.” Our earliest written English uses of inspire give it the meaning “to influence, move, or guide (as to speech or action) through divine or supernatural agency or power.”

When I think about this, I think upon how deeply inspired I have been by the many wise teachers, healers, and guides who have come before me, even up to present day. Those who teach me the ways of remembering, of guiding me within myself, those who remind me of the truth of who I am and who influence me to reclaim that truth within myself again and again.

The English language does not give adequate words to describe what transpires when healing at the deep levels within ourselves. Maybe it needs to be that way, as part of the mystery of it all. But still, I try.

One way I offer descriptions of the deep healing process to clients is by referencing people in relation to things in nature. Relating ourselves to the plants, the water, the minerals, with all of the elements of the physical world and the various seasons it passes through. We can understand and conceptualize nature and seasons in our human form as we are a part of it all while we exist in these human bodies. But as much as the physicality of us usually receives the majority of our attention, it is not the only part of us that holds importance.

We must remember that we are more than these physical bodies doing whatever it is that we do in life. We are also spirit. We are beings. We came here to experience this earthly dimension of physicality and remember who we really are in spirit along the way. We are Light, each one of us. And we are all on a journey of remembering this in a world that makes it really easy to forget. The time has come to remember though; to reclaim the Light within ourselves, in turn, offering inspiration and guidance for another to do the same.

There is no savior outside of you that can reclaim your Light for you. You must do the work of remembering, receiving, and embodying this from within yourself. And the moment you do, the moment you remember, you realize you are found. You are safe. You are seen. You are heard. You are loved. You are worthy. You are accepted. You, my dear, are the Divine - playing out in a human form through the beautiful creation that is you.

This work of remembering is ongoing. We never get it all done and we won't get it all right, whatever that even means. But we show up. First, with ourselves, then with others. I often say that if you want to understand another, begin to understand yourself. It is the only way to the understanding of another. And that goes for anything in life. If you want to love another well, be sure you're loving yourself well. If you want to help another, be sure you're also helping yourself. If you want to heal the world, be sure your healing is a part of it. It may sound contradictory but we live in a world of paradoxes and when you realize that the so called “other” is actually you, just in a different form, you realize the real journey that we are all on lies within each of us, not out there. "Out there" is just the manifestation of what is happening "inside” each of us.

May you be inspired to remember the truth of who you are, to go within yourself and allow more Light to enter, allowing it to take residence inside you and to live out through you, moment to moment to moment.

One with Divine and one with All.
